During my single years, every time I would brake up with a boyfriend after a serious relationship, I was trying to figure out how to get him back…

My heart was broken, I couldn’t imagine or entertain the idea of any other man to be around me. I was afraid to open up, be vulnerable and take a risk of being heart-broken again… So, the best option for me was to figure out a way how to fix things. Better the devil you know, they say…

I was willing to forgive all the “wrong doings”, like cheating, unexpected disappearances, lack of commitment, etc… Because I really loved him…

Or was I just wrapped up in an illusion of love?

Being persistent in nature, I was invested in doing everything I could to make the relationship work. Even if the price to pay was my dignity…

Little spoiler alert: persistence in trying to make a relationship work if it’s not working is a fool’s errand. It is a certain pathway to frustration and being more hurt.

I was oblivious to the obvious: once the toothpaste is out of the tube, you cannot squeeze it back.
