They say, those who wake up really early get more things done and are more likely to be successful. I am talking about “4 or 5 am early”.

My husband wakes up between 4:15 and 4:30 and by 5 am, he is in his home office. And he is a very successful entrepreneur.

So, to a certain degree, the 5 am club definitely has its advantages. Although I love my sleep in the morning, I tried really hard to join that 5 am club. As an action taker, I would select the early morning gym classes or set up an alarm at 5am and would make that committed decision to wake up and start my day early.

The idea of getting many things done by midday was so appealing to me.

So, I would get up at 5 or 5:30 to make it for a 6 am gym class. But then, I would come back home absolutely exhausted and lacking energy. And I would not be productive the rest of my day.

Or if it was just an alarm, I would keep hitting the snooze button. And then, I would feel terrible about myself. I would go into self-criticism mode thinking of myself as self-indulgent and lazy.

Even if I managed somehow to drag myself out of bed before 5 am, I just wasn’t at my best.

My attempt to join the 5 am club of successful achievers failed miserably.
