As I was sitting on Wailea Beach in Hawaii basking in all the beauty and serenity with the noise of crushing waves, I was making some changes in my writing. I tried to spell the word “paragraph”, but the auto corrector for some reason changed it to “paradise”. I smiled with the realisation of how appropriate that little message from the universe was. I was indeed in paradise: Maui island in Hawaii is one of the most magnificent places on earth.
Reflecting on my blessings, I was taken back into my childhood. I remembered when I was a little girl, I loved going through colourful glossy magazines on the world’s most beautiful travel destinations. I was soaking in the beauty and splendour of the photos. Being born in a poor family in Ukraine that was the only luxury affordable to me — dreaming.
I am not sure how those magazines made it to our house; we definitely didn’t buy them. We couldn’t afford to buy anything that wasn’t first need. However, those photos were feeding my open and curious child’s mind, filling it with imagination, hope and dreams.
It makes me sad thinking of those times, because most of the time our family couldn’t afford holidays outside of our town, let alone beautiful world destinations.
During summer breaks from school, my sister and I would just hang out by the house. Our parents took us to the seaside in the South of Ukraine only two times over our entire life in Ukraine (we both left our country after college). That’s not to say, however, that our parents didn’t love us enough; they just didn’t have any means.
Many moons after, I get to enjoy these fascinating tourist attractions all over the world, discovering new cultures, exploring the most breath-taking natural destinations and celebrating life on the beach. My intention here is not to impress you, but rather to inspire you. To inspire you to think big. If someone like me, a girl from poverty could shape her life on her own terms, everyone can.
You have the power to gain control over your life, creating it by design. And that power is unlocked with your imagination. What your mind can conceive, you can achieve. Everything begins as a thought or a dream initially.
Your task is to reprogram your mind for possibility thinking!
By bringing conscious awareness to your thinking.
It is a sad reality but most people don’t think. They think they do, but they don’t. They either engage into mental activity or regurgitate the information from the past.
How intentional are you in your thinking? What thoughts do you usually entertain? Are they repetitions from yesterday, other people’s opinions, or news you heard in the morning?
What about creative thinking, the one that awakens imagination and engineers the future? Don’t ever be misled by the limitation that you are not creative, because we are all creative.
What about possibility thinking, that one that engages your “I can do it” spirit? Most of the time, people automatically think they can’t, every time they get a new idea. But remember: the part of you that says “No, I can’t” is the same as the part of you that says “Yes, I can”. The choice which thoughts to entertain and give strength to is yours.
What about the big “dream thinking”, the one that ignites your self-belief, boosts your self-confidence, and awakens your “lets go” mentality? You’ve got to remember that you wouldn’t be able to consciously come up with an idea if you were not fully equipped to bring it to life.
Think about — there are no limits in where your mind can travel. But why do we pick poor “travelling destinations”? In other words, why do we let negative thoughts and limitations take over?
Instead of thinking of what is, why not thinking of what could be?
I know from my own life experience, if I led my reality full of poverty and despair in Ukraine guide my thinking and imagination, I would never able to become an American citizen, a published author, a motivational speaker, a world-wide traveller, and a happy wife married to the man of my dreams.
Believe in more of what you think is currently possible!
Big changes begin with small but consistent (!) steps. Reprogramming your mind for possibility thinking is crucial to your success and happiness. I am not saying that “fixing” your thinking is the only requirement though. But your mind is the stepping-stone of everything you are going to have. Your thoughts determine your emotions and feelings, which move your body into certain actions, and they create your reality.
Have you taken the time to really think about what your life would look like if all your dreams came true? Who is by your side?
We are in charge of making our own life, we are the creators of our destiny.
Whether you realise it or not, but you are constantly in the process of creation. Most people are not conscious that what they see in their minds brings what they get to experience in their life.
Most people see chaos in the minds. Then they wonder why their life is in chaos.
Shift in the visible world always begins with the shift in the invisible world. Your vision doesn’t have to correspond to your reality, and it shouldn’t. Your dream and your vision has to be much bigger than your reality, so it inspires you to grow.
When I lived in Ukraine, a trip to Hawaii was millions of miles away from my life. It was almost like a trip to space. But because I dared to dream big it became my reality later.
Vision and imagination are powerful tools in creating your reality intentionally.
